Estee Lauder - Double Wear Cushion Foundation

Estee Lauder Double Wear, the foundation that has graced millions of faces, their best-selling foundation, the one that when you find your correct shade you may never venture from again, unless you are fickle like me and go from one to another, to another.

The latest addition to the Double Wear foundation range is the cushion BB foundation, not only have you their iconic foundation in cushion form but skin protection at SPF 50, in a perfect circular compact. The lid is gold with the Lauder name in its iconic blue, this is traditional packaging and I love it. Lift the lid and aside from the mirror within the lid space the application 'puff' sits neatly in its seat. I find the sponge rather thin and resembling a cracker in need of cheese or patè, it doesn't do the job for me and absorbs a lot of the product, I call on it for the final curtain. I love using a buffer brush, I press it into the spongey cushion and then press the foundation over my face, it is then I use the 'sponge provided' to press the foundation into place.
The consistency of the foundation is light, smooth to apply and totally flawless when pressed into place. Depending on your preferred finish of your makeup, this gives light to medium coverage, buildable without looking caked, works well underneath the eye with no creasing. A glorious satin finish to the skin is the result, if you prefer a more matte finish, then a powder is the answer and a light application of loose or pressed soon takes the glow down to a sultry finish.
I have a fairly combination/oily skin, this gives a healthy glow and makes my skin look fresh with a wonderful airbrushed finish to it. Long lasting this still looks as good by the end of the day, and the beauty is if you want to top up your makeup you have it there in the concise compact, perfect to slip into your bag and take with you wherever you go.

Colour matching is always tricky and currently, the choice isn't extensive, I am normally Pale Almond in the traditional Double Wear Foundation. My choice was limited but, I have the advantage of having worked next to the Estee Lauder counter and foundation shades have always been my thing, I love colour matching and generally judge it quite well, so, Ivory Beige, I plumped for and it is perfect. A yellow toned foundation, this actually does blend and transform well over my skin and actually sits happily between pink & yellow for my tones.
As the weeks pass, this is fast becoming a favourite, I love the finish and I adore the healthy look it gives my skin, I find I often use less makeup when my base makeup looks natural but adds to my skin making it look polished.
So, if you're in the market for a new foundation, one that is compact, easy to apply, gives a gorgeous healthy looking finish, grab a cushion and make yourself comfortable.
